About
Hi, I’m Sam. I am a distributed systems engineer by day; tinkerer and nerd by night.
I’ve used go as my primary language since 2012. That’s almost 15 years as I’m writing this. I dabble in plenty of other languages (rust, zig, python, elm, etcetera), but go remains my main language.
I’ve helped maintain many open source libraries for go, starting with testify, goweb, and gorp; and including more recent examples such as correct and my text editor, vidar.
In my free time, when I’m not maintaining or contributing to open source projects, I’m either forging (I have a forge furnace and anvil in my back yard), snowboarding, or playing either tabletop or video games. Sometimes board games or card games, too.
